July 5th, 2008 -- Posted in healthy nutrition | No Comments »

The toxoplasmosis is an infection that, if contracted during pregnancy, could cause malformations in the fetus. For this reason, expectant mothers are not immunized to undergo monthly blood tests to verify the absence of the virus. To avoid contracting the Toxoplasma pregnant there are some important things to take:

* Raw vegetables and fruit can be peeled not eat after a thorough washing with bicarbonate or with suitable disinfectants.
* The meat must be thoroughly cooked and are to avoid all raw meat and non-pasteurized cheese (such as “feta” Greek).

What is allergy?
Allergy is an exaggerated reaction of our body against substances that are not necessarily and may be harmful. These are defined as allergens, which can trigger an allergy. So there are allergies from pollen allergy detergents, allergies strawberries, etc.. Our body, and then seeing enter these allergens, produces substances called immunoglobulin E (IgE). These immunoglobulins, also known as reagine, accumulate to reach a quantity that the presence dell’allergene triggering the reaction. This is the phenomenon of allergic sensitization. Allergy produces during the allergic attack, several phenomena: vomiting or diarrhoea (for allergies to specific foods), irritation in the eyes and nose (rhinitis) if you are sensitive to pollen (such as grass). Even the mites are allergens and for whom it is sensitive, allergy occurs with bronchitis, coughing and asthma attacks. The risk of suffering from allergy increases in relation to the forms of allergic father and mother (or family in general). E ‘and then inherited.

The food and diet for allergic
During weaning, for detecting possible allergic forms in very young children, we’ll introduce new foods spaced over time, so that we can quickly identify fast foods that are not tolerated by the small. The first pappa should therefore less composed than food allergents possible, for example:

* Creamed rice
* Chicken, rabbit and turkey
* Extra virgin olive oil or corn
* Apple and pear

Milk and dairy products are excluded, normally until the first year, because they are often due to reactions more or less important. After the milk is milk that is designed continuation affixed to be hypoallergenic.

• Blood Pressure: High blood pressure increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, and congestive heart failure.
• Cholesterol: A blood cholesterol level over 240 mg/dl (milligrams of cholesterol per deciliter of blood) approximately doubles the risk of coronary heart disease: about 20% of the U.S. adult population (37.2.) falls into this category. Blood cholesterol levels between 200 and 240 mg/dl are in a zone of moderate and increasing risk. An estimated 26.7 mln. (37%) of youths age 19 and under have levels of 170 mg/dl or higher, comparable to a level of 200 mg/dl in adults.
• Cigarettes: Cigarette smokers have more than twice the risk of heart attack and 2-4 times the risk of sudden cardiac death as nonsmokers. Young smokers have a higher risk for early death from stroke.
• Obesity: 60 mln. adults are 20% or more over their desirable weight (32% of white males, 31.5% of black males, 33.5% of white females, 49.6% of black females).

vitamins and weight loss

July 4th, 2008 -- Posted in healthy nutrition | No Comments »

What do they do for us? Vitamins are a primary building block of our everyday lives. Without them we would quickly deteriate to nothing.

Antioxidants. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals. Free radicals can destroy healthy cells. This can affect aging, fatigue, and muscle degeneration.

Absorbtion ratio. To get vitamins into your system you must obsorb them through your digestive tract. We only obsorb about 20% of the vitamins that we take. To increase this we perform a proccess called Chelation. This is were we bond an amino acid to a mineral to increase the obsorbtion ration. Our body obsorbs amino acids much more easier than vitamins and minerals without amino acids. There are two different ways to chelate aminos to a minerals. One way is to bond an amino acid at a single point of the mineral. This slightly increases the obsorbtion ration. The other way is to completely wrap the mineral in an amino acid. This increase the rate of obsortion up to 80 or 90%.

Natural Herbs? What is meant by “natural herbs”. Natural means from nature. Then if you think about it caffeine and even coccaine are natural. Caffeine affects your heart rate by increasing it. This also gives you a hyper feeling. There are some herbs that do the same thing to give you energy. I’ve had people tell me after taking certain herbs that they cannot sleep at night because they are so wired. So make sure you have plenty of information on the herbs before you try them.

Weight losing minerals. There are a few vitamins and minerals that help you lose weight safely. Chromium Picolinate helps raise your metabolism so you will burn more fat and calories on a daily bases. This is done by raising your metabolism not by raising your heart rate. I-Carnatine helps move the fat into the mitochondria or it’s “furnace” which is another way of increasing your metabolism.

Health benefits of using sweeteners

June 28th, 2008 -- Posted in healthy nutrition | No Comments »

Presenting in beverages and other products known as “light” or “sugar”, sold in the form of sucrettes or powder, sweeteners have invaded our food. Their interest is shown for a long time, but they must be consumed in moderation.

 What is sweetener?

It is a substance which has a taste of sweetness. There are several types:

Natural sweeteners: they are sugar and honey, glucose and fructose. They include employees in pastry and confectionery;

Nutritive sweeteners derived from natural products: these are corn syrup (extract starch) and polyols. These have a body similar to that of sugar, where their jobs in confectionery and more particularly in the chewing gum so-called “sugar-free or glucose free”;

Intense sweeteners or synthesis: in a tiny volume, they have a very strong sweetening power. The sucrose and cyclamates have a limited use. The acesulfam K is used in soft drinks and chewing gum. The aspartame, finally, is the most used by the food industry in all kinds of products, and there is also a powder or tablet for specific uses.

artificial calorie sweeteners

Polyols are carbohydrates that provide 4 calories per gram. In theory. Because they have the property not be fully absorbed in the intestine: they do not cross that little or not at all the barrier of the intestinal membrane, and not therefore, do not join all or qu’incomplètement the bloodstream. Their contribution is therefore less than 4 calories per gram. It is not known, in fact, its calorie content because the absorption varies from one person to another.

The intense sweeteners do not calories, or very little. Thus, aspartame, which is composed of two molecules of amino acids, provides 4 calories per gram (such as proteins). But its sweetness is so high (150 times that of sugar) it takes a small dose. A 45-mg tablet has the same sweetening power a piece of sugar 5g (1g = 1000 mg), but the second contains 20 calories against 0.17 for the first. xylitol sweetener

  Sugar Dependency ?

Maybe made yourselves as sugar phobic , which it attributed all the ills of the earth but, at the same time, can not do without the sweet taste? In this case, sweeteners are useful because thanks to them, you’ll taste su sugar without the drawbacks.

Similarly, if you are those who have the sugar fun, ie who are fond of sugar products, your consumption is certainly excessive, leading to weight problems. Sweeteners you will actually better manage your diet.

But the intensive cultivation of sweet taste can be reinforced by the systematic use dédulcorants. And all the more so given that, because of their low-calorie, we tend to use them widely. This only strengthens the dependence on sugar.

 The sweeteners do not lose weight

Many medical studies show that the systematic use dedulcorants has no effect on weight loss. what is logical. Sweeteners certainly replace sugar (4 calories per gram), but they are often associated with products fat (9 calories per gram) in confectionery and biscuits.   calories economy is not at all obvious, far from it!

My advice:

 Try to use chewing gum or candy “without sugar, the less you drink beverages” light “, the less you serve” glucose “, the better for your balance and your line. Use possibly a powder sweetener for your desserts.

(!) Attention:

The aspartame is not recommended during pregnancy because it contains no substance called phenylalanine. But there is a congenital disease (systematically screened at birth), phenylketonuria, which is an intolerance to this amino acid.
It is better not to take risks!
