Athletes are always striving to better themselves. This is accomplished through hours of training, hardwork, and dedication.
It is very important for these athletes or anyone else who is athletic to be very health conscious. An athlete who has a good nutrition plan benifits from extra energy, more endurance, reduced muscle soreness, and a faster recovery time.
Carbohydrates are the most important source of energy for athletes. Carbohydrates are stored in the body as glycogen. Glycogen is stored in our muscles and liver. Glycogen is burned mostly during moderate to intense exercises.
A good diet plan can greatly improve the athletes ability to perform. I’ve had personal experience with this. A poor diet can cause your body to become weak and fatigued. But with a good balance of nutrition you have all the energy you need.
One way for an athlete to get an edge is to have a good vitamin supplement program. This can give the athlete all the vitamins he/she is missing and or burning up during workouts. When you work out your body needs a lot of energy in order to perform. Some vitamins and minerals(not stimulants) can help in this proccess. Some vitamins aid in the proccess of turning fat into fuel faster. Others fight free radicals that can break down your body’s cells.
Here is the basic areas of energy and when they are used.
• Fat - Light to moderate workouts. Walking, light jog, etc. Or after about 30 minutes worth of running.
• Carbohydrates - moderate - intense workouts. Running, aerobics, etc.
• Protein - Intens workouts. Sprints, weights.
If you are trying to burn more fat you’ll need to stick to light workouts. If you are out jogging try it with a partner and make sure you can carry on a conversation. If you can’t talk while jogging then you’re burning carbs and protein instead of fat.
To build muscle you need plenty of carbs and proteins. Carbs are for energy and protein is to rebuild your muscle.
