does green tea help weight loss or fat burning?
As an avid drinker of green tea, I decided to see if there are benefits to follow green tea diet. The Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), also known as Epigallocatechin 3-gallate is a catechin and found in green tea, and is thought to be the main ingredient in green tea, which provides drinking green tea health benefits including abundant weight loss. It is believed a cup of green tea contains 20-35 milligrams of EGCG.
EGCG fights fat effectively increasing the rate of energy expenditure and fat burning through a process of thermogenesis. There have been many studies on links between the EGCg and weight loss has been finded for in recent years. A widely cited study published in the journal of the American Clinical Nutrition (Vol.70, No.6, 1999) presented to measure whether the consumption of green tea could increase energy expenditure by 24 hours and the heavy oxidation in humans. She concluded that “green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content intrinsically. The green tea extract may play a role in controlling body composition through the activation of the sympathetic thermogenesis, the fat oxidation, or with both. ”
Caffeine is thought to help weight loss, and is often an important component in dietary supplements, it is also a component of green tea. There are about 30mg of caffeine per cup than 8 ounces (240mls). The caffeine in green tea helps you does to lose weight? The Mayo Clinic summarizes the effects of caffeine and weight loss in an article published on its website. It states: “caffeine may act as qu’appétit repressive. However, while studies have shown that some eat less after consumption of caffeine, this effect is brief - not long enough to lead to significant loss of weight.
Caffeine can increase the capacity of your body to burn calories. Caffeine is thought to stimulate thermogenesis - the one-way your body produces heat and energy to digest food. However, the role of caffeine in the thermogenesis is probably not enough to result in significant loss of weight.
The caffeine acts as a diuretic, which means it causes an increase in the amount of urine you excrétez. This water loss may temporarily decrease your body weight. ”
It is said that together EGCg and caffeine have a substantial effect on weight loss. In a study published in “in vivo”, vol.18, 2004 scientists studied the effects of anti-obesity of catechin, caffeine and theanine, in mice. They concluded that the combination of caffeine and the catechin was the most effective among the components of green tea in the suppression of weight gain and the accumulation of fat. ”
Thus it seems that studies undertaken in recent years, that the benefits to follow a diet green tea can be attributed to the combination of caffeine and EGCg.
